AR3AC200 - Digital Design and Fabrication Technologies
Introduction
To what extent can digital manufacturing methods inform the creation of architecture? What is the effect of architectural systems inspired by nature to be translated and produced using computer controlled machines? To explore these possibilities will become the basis for the Digital Modeling and Fabrication Technologies. The course will instruct students on designing, modeling and manufacturing architectural surfaces by the means of NURBS modeling applications and digital manufacturing devices. Research, fabrication and assembly procedures will center on digital fabrication using 2d laser cutter. The course attempts to teach at various levels between 'how to' considerations of learning hardware and software, while exploring a deeper understanding of the technological implications on design and digital fabrication
