Projects: Maya Sun Simulator

Sun Simulator Plugin

TOI programmed a Sun Simulator plugin for Maya. The plugin was originally written by N. Addink and E. Janssen Groesbeek and has been maintained by TOI until 2007. This plugin can be used to make (architectural) lightstudies, using an artificial Sun that can be precisely set to a specific date, time and world location.

Sun Simulator MEL script

In 2007 this plugin-based Sun simulator has been replaced by a MEL-based version, wich is portable for all versions of Maya and runs on all platforms. It was written by T. Welman, using information provided by the University of Utrecht (Astronomy answers).

The script and information is available here in our MEL Database. Documentation can be found here in the TOI-Pedia.
